About Swim Defog Our Story

Cindy and I Grew Up in the Water.
Some kids grew up on baseball diamonds or basketball courts. We grew up in the pool. Competitive swimmers from an early age, we basically live in the smell of chlorine. The black lines on the pool floor, the echo of a starting beep, the feel of goggles pressing against your face before a race — that’s home.

When we stopped competing, we didn’t leave the water. We became coaches. Today we have the privilege of coaching Special Olympics swimmers — athletes who show up every single practice with more heart, more determination, and more joy than anyone we’ve ever seen in a competitive pool. It’s the best job in the world.
And every single one of them deserves to see clearly.

The Problem We Couldn’t Ignore.
Foggy goggles aren’t just annoying — for our Special Olympics athletes they’re a real barrier. Spitting in goggles is unhygienic and only lasts minutes. Baby shampoo strips the lens coatings off expensive goggles over time. And the anti-fog sprays on the market? Most contain alcohol that burns sensitive eyes, or synthetic chemicals that have no business being pressed against a child’s face for two hours.
